OPERATION OVERKILL II

OPERATION OVERKILL II

[RAINBOW BAR]

After an exhaustive search via FidoNet and the InterNet I've come to the conclusion that there is not an adequate method of obtaining the latest version of Operation Overkill II (one of the Best online BBS games ever).

The following files are the latest BBS released version:

Main Game Files OOII v1.20

Welcome to an update release of Operation: Overkill, version 1.20!

Hello, fellow gamers! This new release of Overkill was designed to make life easy. Hooray! We have been getting a lot of feedback from new players of Overkill, and I decided it was time to compensate for them and to make the game more enjoyable for newbies. Now, on the other hand, life for the veterans will hopefully face the same vile challenges as in previous versions.

One major change is that the TELNET connections should run smoother this is in part to a New CRT unit and a good partner. :)

What I really aspire from is player feedback, so the more comments I get about the game (good, bad, or ugly), the more pleasing it is to write such games. I can only try to make the game better for all players with opinions straight from the players. So if you get a chance, please write or send a message with your comments. I'd love to hear from you!

Thanks again for your patience on this time of this release. We (the testers and programmers) of Operation: Overkill, want to produce quality entertainment. Bug testing and play testing take oodles amount of time, but in the long run, it's better gaming for all of us. So, have fun with this version, and may you find Overkill napping in his bungalo!

OOII v1.20 OOIITERM Files

Introducing with the Operation: Overkill game, a color terminal program, with sound, OOTERM.

What is a "term" program exactly? In Overkill's case, OOTERM is a separate program that can be used by remote players when they are playing Overkill on a BBS. OOTERM is called a "terminal" program because of its ability to communicate with the BBS and acts in a similar fashion to other terminal/communications programs. However, OOTERM doesn't have all of the fancy gadgets that the full-fledged communication programs do. Instead, OOIITERM simply communicates and interprets any special commands that the Overkill game sends out.

The main reason a remote player would want to use this OOTERM program when playing Overkill is for speed. However, the OOTERM also adds sound effects which greatly enhance the gameplay.

This package should be available for all of users where an Overkill game on a BBS is found. It also might be beneficial for Sysops to post a message in an Overkill game (NEWS.ASC or in the Communications Post) directing them to the files section where OOT_120.ZIP is avaiable.

Also, please note that the Overkill Ansiterm can not be used for local mode play. The Ansiterm only works remotely from a player's system. For local players, the Overkill program automatically interprets the text in Ansiterm mode (even though no remote caller is conneted) for for increased speed and local sound.
